Garnet Station, established 2007, boasts a smart boutique wine list, great New Zealand craft beer and a selection of organic non-alcoholic drinks including Tea Total teas and Chiasso organic coffee made with Green Valley organic milk. Where possible we use organic meat & bacon in our breakfasts, pies, melts, and pizzas & we only use free range eggs & chicken. Down the side of the lane at the back of the bungalow cafe is a 35 seat theatre with plays & band scheduled all year round. Make a night of it and come for dinner before the show. Go to the Tiny Theatre selection below to find out what’s coming up and book a seat. The theatre is also perfect for birthday parties and private functions (50 people max). Garnet Station provides the food and drink with no venue hire fee.

    Rock & Speir: Goodbye 16, Going on 17.

    The comedy duo Cissy Rock and Anne Speir bring us a brand new characterful comedy show. Pamalala & Skye process the year that was and look toward the turbulent future of their Women’s Protest Choir. Whilst Bruce & Andrew continue to be inundated with requests for their sperm, and new characters wait in the wings. The remarkable singer Karen Kahurangi will make a rare appearance. Rock is a community facilitator and producer of lesbian events, Speir, a tall feminist well known for her witty 90s persona Dolores Clitoris. Expect irreverent humour with dollops of silliness!


  • I'm An Apache Attack Helicopter

    Ren (Michelle/Ryan), the genderqueer performance artist of the well-honed autobiographical theatrical comedy “Ze”: queer as fuck! takes these subjects head on with self-deprecating humour in a rotating comedy set about how we’re all humouring what makes each of us ridiculous.

    This set of stories and observations gathered from the queer side of the tracks is different every night, and may include: the binary comedian’s guide to understanding men and women, the label dictionary, how to fail at pronouns, surviving a growl-fest at a queer event, passing as ‘normal’, living parent-free, doing things religiously while not religious, pagans and people who believe they are werewolves, how to relax into your cisgendered-heterosexual-white-able-bodied-animate-human privilege, steps to becoming  more-progressive-than-thou, and how to appropriate queer experiences.

    This show is for anyone who was afraid to laugh at something they didn’t understand… with other people… who are also not sure if it’s okay to laugh.  Ren proves we all take ourselves seriously in some pretty funny ways.


  • Punch & Munch

    Sunday 19 Feb

    Punch & Munch is a relaxed social occasion for 16 to 24 year olds in the Tiny Theatre and garden, facilitated by experienced youth worker Laura Olsen.

    Play some games, talk about some stuff, share some laughs and hopefully make some new life long friends, then stay on for a bite to eat.


  • Earth Magic Workshops

    Sun 12, 19, 26 Feb, 5, 12, 19, 26 March, 2 April

    1 – 3 pm, $25 per workshop

    Understand and harness your woman’s power over eight consecutive Sundays, led by Sandi Hall: Tarot reader, student of Woman’s Spirituality and lesbian feminist writer. The first 3 workshops are titled: Feeling the Connection, The truths in our hearts, Hopes on the horizon. They will be held in the Tiny Theatre and adjoining garden, dress comfortably.
